Default System Restore not working

Hi everyone. I had the vista beta on my DESKTOP but did not like and wanted to re-install windows XP. Well my desktop did not come with an XP cd but my LAPTOP did. So I put in my laptop XP cd and re-installed windows XP. Now I think I have my LAPTOP setting on my DESKTOP. Now I CANNNOT standby/hibernate and my sound does nto work because it doesn't recognize my speakers. I tried pushing F1- when my computer loads to do a system restore but nothing happens. Please help.

Then you will just need to get your hardware drivers. What's the make and model number of the PC, I can find them for you.
