Default Strange problem

Ok, so I had to buy a new cd/dvd rom drive and after installing it and the software it came with. The problem I have is that after I got the computer back up and running, I have an issue with my mouse not responding the correct way. For some reason, my left click will not respond when I double click an item and my mouse will also not activate drop down menus the right way. Should I start from scratch and uninstall the software?

I have restored the defaults to my mouse settings but it still won't respond right.

Thank you in advance for any help....John

if you unplug the power connector to the dvd drive, does the mouse work normally again when you reboot? infrequently low power supplies flake out the power for your USB ports is why I ask. if the mouse doesn't go back to normal, then ya I'd remove and reinstall from scratch again. You can also try another USB port. (and btw, I'm presuming your mouse is a USB mouse, that itself might be wrong, if so I don;t have a clue. heh.)
