start up
in the task mananger there seems to be about 12 progammes starting on start up, but when i go to msconfig theres only 3 ticked, why are the rest opening, and how can i stop them?

There should be about 20 most are required for windows. Check the services tab when you are in msconfig.

na sorry, not the services, all the other stuff, like avast, i mean i want that, but heres about 7 other things and i dunno how to stop them

Go to start menu, programs, and start up folder. Remove programs that you don't wnt to start at boot.

they are just system files and services that are required to start for your applications to run and the windows gui itself.
