Default SQL server removal

OK, my work laptop, Toshiba Tecra, 1.4 Ghz centrino, 512 RAM. We had to install a trial version of some software to test and see if we wanted to spend $3000 for the real thing. The vendor had to install SQL server on it. Made this thing take nearly 5 minutes to boot. Now that the trial is over, I want to get rid of SQL and the app. I uninstalled both, but it still takes forever to boot. Nothing in msconfig/startup about either of them. The SQL server still shows up in add/remove programs however. So what's the deal here? When I hit remove it goes through a couple screens, and then just goes away, but the app is still there. Wonder if the installer is missing and preventing me from removing it? And, if so, where do I get SQL server installer??

Not sure if you can say that worked since it caused blue screen. But I have now done a repair install of XP to try to fix that and it has helped the boot time some, but not like it should be. There's nothing on this thing anyway so I probably will just do a format and a clean install.
