Default Sound preview in Windows Explorer windows

Does anyone remember in the days on Win2000 and WinME, when you would open an explorer window and were searching your hard drive, if you clicked on a sound file you could preview it in the left hand pane? You could play any file wihtout opening it in WMP or Winamp or whatever you used. Seems I cannot do that in XP. Is there something I need to do to enable this, or is this feature not available in XP, or am I just dumb?
