On my laptop, I noticed that one day (yesterday) my volume and power options were missing.
i tried to search for a fix or what caused the problem but didn't find any useful ones.

i tried opening up the volume and power options again and tried to find the preferences but no avail.
any help please?

ps: laptop is vista

Have you sent the hidden? Right click on the task bar and click properties then customize.

I'm assuming you're using xp.

For volume: Start>settings>control panel>sounds and audio devices>click on the little checkbox that says "place volume icon in the taskbar"

For power: Start>settings>control panel>Power Options>click on the advanced tab>click the little check box that says "always show icon in task bar"

Are you sure that explorer.exe didnt carsh and recover? that is the case when tray icons go missing most of the time. Have you tried to reboot?

Moved to Windows. Not a hardware issue.

never mind. i found it. i couldn't think well cuz i was sleepy so i forgot what i did.
i disabled volume network and power in the notification area in the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties.

for vista.
