EDIT - it does indeed open in the right program btw. i just want to associate the right icon to it now.

Did you rebuild the icon cache before or after you set the file associations? Have you reset the PC at all?

set file associations earlier on. then rebuilt the icon cache. then set them again when you suggested (or maybe just checked).

nope havent restarted. am doing so now just to check. if i dont get back to you within 20 mins that means same problem still happening
