It could. If that file is at all necessary since you skipped it there could be problems down the line.

By any chance when you installed did you use the Quick format option? I would suggest using a full format instead to stop these issues.

Could also be a scratched CD, sometimes Windows explorer can read and find files on scratched media but Windows installer cannot. Clean the CD if there are any scratches, and look into burning the CD to a new CD-ROM to possibly fix the issue.

It isn't too hard on your computer. Unless you are pressed for time I would always do a more thorough format.

No, lookup the definition of disk defrag with google.

Data is on a platter that spins. When a file is created it is in one place. After multiple saves and deletions of certain files the disk becomes 'fragmented' with bits and pieces of files and programs you still use, and some you don't. What a disk defrag does is move all of those associated files and programs together so the arm of the hard drive doesn't have to move from place to place jsut to load a file.

That is the short and sweet version, i'm sure someone else can chime in and give more detail. It won't ever hurt your computer, just make it run faster (relative to how it was running).

It look like a file you can live without. Earl is nothing more then a duck riding a surfboard.
