my win 98 and win xp system startup is very slow!

what can i do?

you could start by telling us your System components, Your Anti virus and applications that start on start up.

Try Disabling unneeded ones. I think you can use MSconfig with 98 and disable things on startup tab.

well there area a lot of unecessary ones in win98 which i can disable.

but win xp i will have to see.

if i use msconfig in win xp & go to startup tab i can see about 23 items!

i use antivir. i also have norton2003. but i dont know what some of those names mean or signify!???

Disable as many ones in 98 as you can then see how fast it boots.

oh should i really ditch Norton in the sense uninstall it!???

but then i will be left with only antivir!

is that a good idea?

norton is a resource hog. it slows your system too much. it also doesn't detects some viruses

I agree with Everyone. Norton has to be the slowest AV out there. AVG or Avast will really Speed things up.
