Default slow shutdown

I removed two of my hard drives in my other machine and now it takes about 5 minutes to shutdown. I also get a DEVLDR program trying to close window. I click end now and it takes 5 minutes.

Everything has been working fine up until I took out those drive. One will go back in, but the other one is in my new rig now.

Any ideas?

Try disabling everything in Windows startup and see if the problem is still there..to do that just do START>RUN>MSCONFIG>STARTUP>DISABLE ALL. If it is still there we can go from there. If it goes away you know it is something that is starting up hanging it. Then you can enable items as needed. I only leave virus scan in there myself.

I figured it out. I tried google on a whim and I found it posted at microsoft. The sound driver for my Soundblaster Live! card is conflicting.

I will download the new driver and test it.

Thanks for your help.
