Default *sigh* Ordinal error?

Right then. I don't have a clue what happened here.

When I go to boot my PC, it starts to boot normal. It has the XP loading screen, and then it completes. After that, the message "the ordinal 24 could not be located in the dynamic link library ODBC32.dll" pops up. Then, the message "The Logon User Interface DLL msgina.dll failed to load" and it has a restart box.

Quick fix or not?

Nope. This is steamed off from your boot.ini issues.

odbc32.dll known as Microsoft Data Access ODBC Driver Manager
msgina.dll known as Windows Logon GINA Library msgina

Both of those are very important. Either you will have to replace them or repair your PC.

Insert your CD and see if you can replace them thru the recovery console. Or if you can boot into safe mode from there.

Time to sound like a HUGE noob.

What is the format I will use? Once I am into the recovery console? Like,
Code:
copy d: filename c:
or what?

Thank you very much.

One last question. So, to copy the file 'odbc32.dll', would it be like so:
Code:
copy d:/odbc32.dll c:
or would

Code:
copy odbc32.dll c:
And, is there anywhere exact in 'C:' I need to put these?

C:\Windows\System32

That will be the location they are going to. You will have to do copy D:\ style. If not it wont know the source.

Well, I manually replaced them, since I could not get it to work.

I had to download them from dll-files.com since on the XP cd they were not in .dll form.

Edit: Sweet, it works, kind of. I get This error.
So I need the one off my disk. I still am having some trouble with this...

Okay. I'm going to asses what if going on here.

Currently, this is my situation:
I am running Ubuntu, with three hard drives connected. One is Ubuntu. One is Windows. One is storage.
  • I downloaded the files odbc32.dll and msgina.dll, and placed them in the System32 folder of Windows.
  • This allowed XP to run/load, but produced This error.
  • I can run XP, but I could not plug in my Storage drive, or it would pop up some screen, naming my motherboard, and it would count from like 0-30.

At this point, I am at loss. This is what happend to me before, and I do not remember how I fixed it, but I'm pretty sure it was random luck. Any information needed, tell me and I will provide it ASAP.

Edit: I've got it back to XP being bootable. However, I still cannot plug in my storage drive and I still have that error.

Anyone? Help would be awesome.

Is it possible that this is a registry issue?
