Question Sever files access audit

hi, fellows!

several days ago we had a security incident with some very sensitive files and now I have a task from our head management to prevent this things in future. I'm thinking of implementing a file auditing. I've heard something about native windows auditing but I'm not sure how it's powerful. I want to be able to control on-the-fly who use the files, what he do with them and etc.

Waiting for your suggestions, John.

Yep, you can take a look at native auditing but this way if Im not wrong you should look through server event log. It's really boring and wasting time.
But Im sure there are some 3rd party solutions that can solve this issue...
I don't remember the particular names - google will help...
