Default Server AntiVirus

I wasn't sure if this should be here, or in the Virus area. I need a virus protection solution that will work on Windows Server 2003. I wanted to go through Norton and get their corporate license for $41, but you have to purchase at least 5 licenses. And their Endpoint Security you have to do the same.

I would prefer something from a reputable company, since this is my company's butt if the virus protection doesn't do its job or crashes the system.

I already have the client computers (5) protected, and I would just like to have a separate AntiVirus on the server (the current one expired last month). I've searched high and low and still come up w/ nothing. Please advise!

Thanks,

Hello,

You will need a business class AV. Since you are running Server 2003 you can run Avast on there.

avast! 4 SBS Edition Download

If you are running the SBS version. If not you might have to go with something like NOD32 Business Edition. I know that works as that is what i run on my Server 2008 install.

Cheers,
Mak

i would stay away from Symantec... SEP is a horable AV program...i used symantec for years, but SEP was so bad that i made the switch, SEP was almost as bad as any virus it actuly cought.

i recomend eset nod32. and its not vary exspensive, but one of the best there is at this point.

AV requires a minimum license purchase of 5. Any other thoughts?

Hello Lex,

Most Server AV's will require a purchase of 5 Licenses or more. What version of Server 2003 are you running? Enterprise, Small Business Server? Need some info to help with results.

TrendMicro, Eset NOD32 Business, among others will work.

Purchase Antivirus and Security Software at ESET. Buy Antivirus Programs and More.

Eset for NOD32 Business has a option for 1 License. That might be your best option. But from the looks of it that is only for the noremal NOD32 not the business.

Cheers,
Mak
