Default "Security Log Is Full"

Getting an error on a teacher's demo computer runnin XP Pro SP3. At the login screen it says that above where you put in the user name. When I try to dump the security log, it barfs an error at me about not having the right client permission or some garbage.

I tried in safe mode and I also tried in safe mode with group policy disabled. Not sure where to go from here, since google says "oh this will work" when it's not workin out for me.

Anybody know?
