| Re: script running on boot up MSconfig isnt a backup tool. You check or uncheck boxes to allow programs to start up or not.
MSConfig Cleanup can be found in Osiris's Spyware Guide and on any search engine. Again it is only to clean up STARTUP entries.
They have NOTHING to do with configuration settings.

| Re: script running on boot up I am very patient and always willing to help. But something like asking where to get a program and waiting almost a day for an answer instead of trying to use any search engine gets very trying on anyone's patients. It happens all the time with you. You ask and wait for some to give a directly link rather than try yourself to find it.
We are here to help, but at times this does require you to take it upon yourself to do some things. Be it search for a program or other things suggested.
I would suggest you go through Osiris's guide. Since you have no ida what this script is or how it got installed.

| Re: script running on boot up I can understand, but at the same time a search would also provide you with the answers. When searching for something like VirtualPC and seeing that it says Free Download on the page i am sure that it wouldnt be illegal.
We will help. But taking actions and doing searches and asking when you have finish searching and are still unclear is different then asking for us to hold your hand and give you every bit of information.
Yes we all have to learn, yes we all were there at some point and yes it is a very long process to get from not knowing to knowing. But i didnt get to where i am today with my knowledge with someone leading the way and giving me every answer. I have read book after book, website after website and made more mistakes that i care to remember. It is through that experience that i have gotten to where i am.
I have no problem giving resources, advice and tips on how to gain the knowledge. I know that many others here are willing to do it as well. But not a single one of us made it to where we are by getting our hand held for every question we had.
Again sorry about being so blunt and honest about this. But you want to learn i can see that. But to learn you have to take some things into your own hands. Having everything handed to you isnt going to help you learn. It just makes you dependent on others for the answers.

| Re: script running on boot up Along those same lines, if you have your OS disk, and you back up all your critical data (read anything that's irreplaceable), you only risk about an hour of restoring your system if you don't get it right.
And rather than MSConfig, I prefer Startup Control. |
