Default Registry and Defragging programs?

Hope this is the right place to ask... But I was wondering if there are any good FREE defragging/registry programs out there that I can use for my computer? I have a Vista O/S...

If not, should I just buy a program and if so which ones? Also are there anymore programs that will allow me to speed up my computer? It's boots up a little slowly and opens files and such slowly also... Maybe I just need more RAM? (1026 MB of RAM at the moment) I do have memories of my computer being faster when I first received it...

CCleaner is great for cleaning up your registry and also other unnecessary files.
