Default recovery console

Well My Windows XP pro computer boots up and hits an error message \windows\system32\config\system is missing or is corrupt.

Now in the recovery console, What command and location do I put down to copy that directory to the hard drive?

Run a chkdsk /r first. Then reboot and see if your issue is resolved.
