Default Quirky Server 2008 and Audigy 2

Well we all know how much of a pain it is to find working sound drivers for Vista and creative products.

Well here is the dumb fix, whenever I tried installing the drivers myself, it would never work, but, if I uninstall the drivers for the card, then restart, and allow Server 2008 to locate and install whatever driver it wants upon loging in, it installs and works.

Until the next restart, then it stops working, so if I want to use my audigy 2 zs, I am going to have to uninstall my sound card drivers every time I need to restart....

Crazy...

Nice little work around there ste, shame there is no way to make the drivers stick in there an keep working after a restart.

Yea, I got some time before this is a real concern, as I will only be booting into server 2008 to game, so this means I won't be gamming until I purchase my next video card, since a 7300 LE would die in attempt to play crysis.

So I have time to figure it out, maybe in the end I will try the drivers for my onboard sound.. -shudders-

What version of the drivers are you using?

I read a good story the other day about people using server 08 as a workstation OS an having trouble with the sound but the dude had a trick up his sleave to get them working let me see if i can dig it up for you.

I am planning on using 08 for my skull trail build.

Well Im not sure which one server 2008 goes and downloads, and Im booted into XP now so I can't check, but my guess would be the newest vista drivers directly from creative..

A blog from MSDN.
Part 1.
Part 2.
I think part two will be more helpful, i am sure it's in the comments about half way down the audio fix but i am not 100% sure. Give the DanielK drivers a good few people are having more luck with them than the official Creative Drivers.

I will dig into this issue for you mate.
