I have a problem...
My Dads getting a new computer (with Windows 7) but wants to be able to use Quicken 2000 on it...
We have a copy but I have 2 problems

- Firstly, being fairly old, I don't know if it will work on 7.
If anyone knows if it works and could tellme that would be great :)

- Secondly, the copy I have is only licences for one pc. And I don't think the activation number will work (being so old) so I can't renew the licence...

Obviously buying the latest one would be easiest thing to do, but I dunno which one of the many would be appropriate.. All my Dad wants to do is use the program that he's used to, and one that is compatible with his old saved work...

Any suggestions?

Cheers
Tim

Quicken 2008 or 2009 will work with Windows 7 and will be able to import is quicken file. While compatibility mode in Windows 7 MIGHT work there is no way to know unless you try.

Quicken keeps the same general format, just pay the 50 bucks and upgrade. This way you KNOW the product key will work and it will work with window 7.

I never said that earlier versions didnt work. I said that only Quicken 2010 is stated to be fully compatible and the earlier versions it gives a recommendation to upgrade. I know for a fact that Quicken 2007 and earlier dont work as it has been reported as such.

Depending upon which version of win7 you have (pro, enterprise or ultimate) you could also try it in xp mode as a test before you buy, but, I find with financial software it is always best to be on the latest version.

I didn't think that Quicken used a product key. All of the legit versions I have used I have never had to enter a product key and I don't see one on the packaging anywhere. And we have used it on more than one computer.
