Default Problem starting Windows XP

Tried to start system and am getting the following message: We apologize for the inconvenience but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change could have caused this"..It goes on to give me options of how to restart the machine but when you choose an option using the arrows, nothing happens. Unplugging the system from power source and turning back on does nothing, same screen at power up. This happend a few weeks ago, called Microsoft and reinstalled XP..why is this happening?

thanks

Its probably becuase you changed something that the Operating System needed to run. Now you should just try a reformat. Should fix your problem.
