Hey guys, this may look too long, but please read
I ran into a spot of bother tonight, trying to get rid of XP and bring in a fresh copy of Vista Home Premium x86
OK, so I boot from CD, all is good, I format my partition C, and it begins installing.
After it finishes installing, the computer restarts itself and then brings up the black screen with all the full stops, saying, "Please wait while Windows starts for the first time."
After this screen though, my monitor turns itself off and I can't do anything.
I have tried this with a CRT monitor and an LCD. Same thing happens.
This has also happened to me when I tried to install Ubuntu 64-bit. The screen just turned off and I was stuck, so I had to put XP back on.
Now I have tried swapping graphics cards as well, no luck. (Tried putting in my old 8500GT, as opposed to my 9600GT.)
When I try to start in safe mode, I get to the part where 'Safe Mode' is displayed on each corner, then a popup box says "Windows cannot complete installation in Safe Mode".
Any help would be great. I'm not going back to XP, as I just bought Vista and wanna use it dammit!!
COMP:
Intel Core 2 Quad - Q6600
4 gig RAM
Gigabyte P35 DS3 MoBo
GeForce 9600GT
My two hard drives are pretty old. Not sure what they are exactly.
All I know is that one's a Samsung 200gb.
