as said before.. running as a limited user unless doing an admin task is very good at blocking a **** of a lot of spyware and virus type stuff.

And the other as stated.. know what you are downloading

Follow the advice given but the answer is no nothing is safe from these threats. Mac users will see more and more of this junk as they grow popular and they Linux will also be affected since Mac's are UNIX based.
