Angry Pop-up assualt

ok guys ive been haveing a real had time with pop ups. they come up take up the whole screen and keep poping up like 2 or 3 a site some times. I dont think it is spyware ive run two different spyware scans and deleted all that was there. (counter spy, and spy subtract) The weird thing is some of them are ligetiment sites like target and other ones. Can all of this be fixed with a simple pop up blocker from the store or is there something more sinister.

If you're using IE 6, put your Block pop-up setting to High, this will require you to hold the CTRL button every time a legitimate site is block, else all pop-ups are block.

Switch to Firefox:

Do a complete scan of your system using Warez's guide: http://www.tech-forums.net/showthrea...hreadid=117351

Both IE and FF have build-in pop-up blocker, but that isn't enough. You can find a third-party software, either shareware or free. Try searching on Google.com for pop-up blocker..

If the pop ups say messenger service at the top them use this method:

http://www.itc.virginia.edu/desktop/docs/messagepopup/

if it doesn't look like it does on that link then take a screenshot of it and post back.

Switch to firefox and forget about IE
Download adaware SE personal and do a spyware scan
Download spybot search and destroy and do a scan.

It's always better to do various scans if one program doesn't catch spyware then the other will.
You may also want to consider doing a virus scan.. just to be on the safe side. NOD32 I think is a good virus scanner
