Default Outlook Express question

I use Outlook Express to manage all of my emails. Is it possible to see all the emails in Outlook on a different computer? I am guessing this is not possible.

Depends, if you have it setup where Outlook doesn't download the emails from the server (assuming you are using a POP configuration) then any other computer with your Outlook settings on it could download those same emails and you can see them there too.

Aside from doing that no, generally speaking emails are downloaded from the server once you've 'received' them. At that point the emails are gone from the server and you can't access them in webmail or from another computer (again assuming that you have outlook download the emails).

^ Lex is referring to POP3 there, IMAP4 leaves the messages on the mail server until deleted.

EDIT : Ok, this was probably ambiguous. ^ ^ ^ What I am saying is, POP3 messages are downloaded and messages read are deleted after reading them - deleted from the server.

IMAP4 messages, on the other hand, stay on the server until someone - you or settings created by a mail system administrator - deletes them.

That is what I figured.

I am using a POP configuration. I was a little confused until oldskool cleared that up.

Is the POP configuration the more popular setup?

POP3 is extremely popular, and is still used a fair amount these days. However, IMAP4 is what you see most of the time. But applications have to be IMAP4 capable - many browsers today are, which is why you can go to Hotmail or a similar site and read messages from your browser.
