Whenever Outlook 2003 is opened it goes though an install. Outlook does work but goes through this install each time. The operating system is Windows XP. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and defragged after uninstalling but the issue remains. The other thing is that when I do a reinstall I don't have to configure Outlook like it is a new install, my email account is still set up on it. So there seems like something is still staying on the machine. I would appeciate any help as I've been banging my head on this one for a while now.

Defragging won't help your problem at all. All of your settings and email accounts stay on the system. Outlook does not erase any files which are in your Documents folder. What does it say it's trying to install? Usually it's a matter of deleting old registry files or it is trying to install a font you requested Outlook to use at an earlier point.

It is going through the Outlook install.

Is it saying that it is installing the full program of Outlook or does it just say Outlook Installer at the top and a feature is installing in the Window? Have you tried letting it run through the installation process?

It says installing Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003. It does go through the install and Outlook works fine after it.

There is a hook in the registry that is causing this. Try running CCleaner.

It was a registry problem, I deleted Outlook from the registry after uninstalling it. When I reinstalled Outlook everything is cool. Thanks guys!
