I was going to download these beta drivers to see if it will improve farcry 2 performance but my card doesn't appear in the list of cards for that driver. Are they already dropping support for the 8600? I don't really feel like buying a new video card already.

Try Guru3D. It is a better place to find the nVidia Beta drivers than their site.
But remember being Beta they could make your system WORSE.

Looks like either the drivers dont support the 8600 series or they didnt list them. Most of the time i see the drivers listed for the 8 Series. But i wouldnt doubt if they are trying to phase it out. It is a older card.
