Hello,

I purchased a used computer from a friend and I got a bunch of programs with it also. Among the program CDs there is a GENUINE XP PROFESSIONAL CD with it's case. But neither the case nor the CD has the product key on it. So I am not able to install it on my new HD. My friend has no idea where the product key is and even doesn't know where he got the XP CD from.

Is there any way to install this XP PROFESSIONAL without the product key or get the product key somehow?

You're with gonna have to buy a new key or find it. It is usually on the package the CD came in.

Do I understand correctly? Is it possible to purchase just a KEY on line somewhere that I could use with my XP CD? If yes where?

There are XP key finders that scans the system for the original key that was entered on the O/S.
