One single scanner won't ever protect you. I've seen reviews that showed avg free, eiwedo and spybot catching well over 95% from just 3 freeware apps.

I personally have avg (only one in realtime, which doesn't slow down the pc but I can still easily shut down during gaming), then I have several programs that are on demand malware scanners that aren't in real time, so no performance hit, well layered security should catch about anything when programs are updated.

BTW, my extra malware tools are avg antispyware, a squared (good trojan finder), ad aware 2007, spybot, hijackthis, and spyware blaster.

All FREEWARE and doesn't take more than half an hour once a week to make sure everything is clean.

Big Thanks to Trotter for the HDD. Big Thanks to CarnageX for the Video Card. Big thanks to Saxon, without you none of this would be possible.
