I am thinking about buying the Nero 8 downloadable version off ebay since it is a whole lot cheaper than buying it with the box and everything else. The question I have is would it be possible to put that on a cd or dvd(whichever it fits on), in case I ever need to reinstall it or whatnot?

You can use just about any burning software to burn it to a CD. Nero, CDBurnerXP even ImgBurn has a option to burn files to a CD. Just make sure that you finalize the disc when you burn it so that you can use it on other PC's.
