My VOLUME is gone....pls HELP?!?

My volume control is gone and I cant reinstall it....it appears to have happened after an incident when my video card came loose and was disconnected while the PC was on. I know NOT GOOD but now I just want my sound back : (

This is what I have tried so far:

- Ive tried the "Place volume icon in the task bar" in Windows control panel but it then gives me this error msg:
"Windows cannot display the volume control on the task bar because the volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/ Remove....."

- I tried this and cannot as my windows copy is not genuine (My OS = Windows XP Pro SP2)

- Also I have tried the instructions at this link to no avail - Windows Volume Control program has not been installed

- Lastly you should know that I can rule out the speakers and sound card/ drivers as they are both new (SB Live 5.1)


CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME TO GET MY VOLUME BACK?!?!?
