Default My old p4 machine loads in 10 seconds....

I have a P4 machine from Sony Vaio upgraded it to 2gb of ram and 7600gs of graphics card. I recently boot and nuked it and reformatted it and installed windows xp pro and i was installing updates and wow it restarts within 10 seconds. No lie. if at worst it is 20 seconds.

My windows vista 64 bit at 2.2 core 2 duo / 4gb ram boots completely in windwos for like 1 minute, another 3 minutes for all the applications to load up in the beginning.

I got to admit that windows xp is empty

but wow how do i make vista boot faster?

Ensure there are no other startup programs. Vista is going to load slower no matter what unless you have some good specs b/c it has more services that start up.

Go into your msconfig and see what programs are starting with Vista. Really it is probably more other programs making the load process slower than it is Vista.

Empty Vista. Then you can get a real comparison. Or install the same stuff on the XP as you have on Vista and use it for the same amount of time. Bet it wont boot in 10 seconds then.....

Go thru the spyware guide. Remove all startup apps. That is the only thing that you can do to speed up your boot.

Is there a way i can post you a text file on what program launches or all my programs in my computer that could possibly slow it down?

If so what are some things to definitely turn off vista. look at my sig stats for more info.

Even when I'm photoshopping its kind of choppy for some odd reason. And its on high perforomance battery life.
