| MSVCR71.dll Error I get this error when loading up one of my games and it tells me to reinstall the game. I did some searching on it and found out it is a registry error of some sort. This is a new machine I am running on so dunno why I would be getting this unless it was not orginally put on the comp. I am running VISTA 64 bit and after doing some soul searching on the net I found only one program that could potentially fix this issue (regcure) BUT it will not work on 64 bit
Anyone know how i could do some workaround on this problem? |

| Re: MSVCR71.dll Error What is the error? That the file is missing, the file is corrupt? There are many types of errors so without knowing if the file is needed or not we cant really give a solution. That is a .dll file and is not associated with the Registry. It is just located in a folder.
• C:\Windows\System32\ on Windows XP
• C:\WINNT\System32\ on Windows NT and Windows 2000
• C:\Windows\System\ on Windows 9x and Windows ME
It is associated with Visual C++ Runtime libraries. So could be that is corrupted on your system.
What Game?

Here is the exact msg
This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
I do have Visual studio also on the computer so that I can run VB.
The game is Civilization 4 |

| Re: MSVCR71.dll Error Have you looked to see if the file is actually there? Either way, you may want to try downloading the .dll file and throwing it in there.

| Re: MSVCR71.dll Error What OS are you running? XP? DLL-files.com - msvcr71.dll, free download
Go there downlaod the .dll in question and place it in the appropriate folder listed above. That should fix this issue.

| Re: MSVCR71.dll Error What program? The site i linked to is just a download of that file. It isnt a program or anything. It is the .dll file that is all. It isnt anything that you have to install or run. So it will work just fine in Vista 64 bit just as it would in Vista 32 Bit. Since all it is, is the .dll file which you are missing.
All you have to do is find where it needs to go. Either that or uninstall the Visual C++ and reinstall that to get that file installed correctly again.
