Question Microsoft Shell and Internet Explorer

If you sever Internet Explorer's connection to the Microsoft shell is it possible to connect the two again without reformatting?

I seperated the two and now it's irritating me so bad. Anyone know how/if I can fix this?

They are not meant to be severed. There is no way to fix it but to format and reinstall. IE is tied into the core of Windows and has been since XP.

I know they're not intended to be severed, but I was having issues way worse than what I'm dealing with now. Don't get me wrong, it's much more efficient this way and it fixed the problems I was having... but, there are some aesthetic and functional issues that are pretty standard but unnecessary and not having them is more of an annoyance than a real problem.

Thanks though, this answered my question. It's a problem I can live with; I just wanted to know if there was any way to reverse it in the event the cons start to outweigh the pros.
