IBM/PS1 is on a distinguished road

Default

I started having some minor pc's issues during the last week. My soundcard would randomly lose it's drivers, warhammer beta wouldn't open, My win32 services would sometimes crash.

Then yesterday world of warcraft randomly crashed during load screens. THEN i got an error messaged everytime i tried to run the exe.

I figured it was driver related as the disk i used last time was missing the driver.cab file and a few jpg and wav files.

I figured i'd do a system restore, the system restore fixed my sound issues but then i got a BSOD. I figured i needed to repair windows so i popped in the repair cd and i kept getting different bsod messages including at different points in the installation. Mostly happened after the copy file process hit 100%

PFN_list_corrupt
Syntax error in the .sif file at line 2695
Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area
A few times i got a BSOD message that said it was duumping physical memory.

There was another one but i didn't write it down.

So now i figure i would check my ram, I ran a memtest and errors started piling up. I pulled the ram cleaned the dust and firmly pushed them back in. Ran memtest 1-8 with 0 errors.

I attempted to install windows again. It worked with no problems at all... Until i tried to install drivers for my video card and network card. I installed the drivers for my video card and rebooted but got back in and it was like i never installed any drivers. Eventually i got another BSOD, (don't remember what it was)

At this point i figured it was my windows install CD. i burned a new copy but it wasn't working properly so i figured i would just swap in my laptop OS disk when it prompted me for driver.cab That got me past that screen bot at the end of the install i got another BSOD (page fault).

I then tried doing dskchk and it said there was one or more errors on my C: drive. I shut down my pc and reconnected the cables and blew out some dust. When i tried to turn on my pc i got nothing. Maybe i was so tired from being at this all night that i wasn't thinking clearly but anyway eventually it booted up and i ran another diskchk and it said both drives were fine. (same thing that happened with the ram).

Right now took out of of my drives and i'm trying to install it on my newer drive. ( the one that had windows on it is about 4 years old.)
I'm trying a new install on my newer HD while swapping my laptop install CD for the important files.

I've been able to install windows a few times without problems but i need to get the driver.cab on or there is no point in loading all my files back on.

Anyone that can help with my BSOD errors would have my thanks as i am desperate and about to pay to have someone fix it.

I feel i've tried everything except flashing the bios. I haven't really tinkered much with he bios yet. Originally i thought these problems stemmed from my overclocks but it's been stable for 6 months. Reverting back to fail-safe settings was the first thing i tried.

Sorry if my explanation is all over the place. If you need more Specific information let me know..

God bless !

please help me

UPDATE: I got xp installed with no BSOD errors. I've installed video drivers so far but it's not detecting my soundcard.

Bad update

I installed most of my drivers and software. I went to open a torrent file with bitlord and i got a quick blue screen flash then a restart. Upon restart windows did an auto disk check and it removed some corrupted files. It restarted again and now the windows loading bar comes up and loads for a bit then the screen goes black like it's going to log in then it hangs for 30 seconds. After that another blue flash error message to fast to see, Then it restarts.

I've been trying to get in with safemode but so far hasn't worked.

Hello,

It sounds as if the discs you are using to install Windows are corrupted. The Driver.cab file should load at about 18% or so of the install. So if it is not installing that cab file you have a bad set of discs and this will not stop until you get a better set of Windows discs to use to install Windows.

Cheers,
Mak

Hello,

As i have stated this will continue. The install media you used did not copy all the system files to the drive like it should have. The only solution is to find a better media to install with. As the media you are using is corrupted or has been tampered with.

Cheers,
Mak
