| local disc icons not setup right i have just went into my computer,and my hard disk drives,i.e os c drive,and recovery partition,are showing up as pieces of paper with a fold on top right hand corner of the paper with 6 little squares of colour on the centre of the paper,does anyone know how i get the graphics/icons back ,for c drive and e drive recovery partition,i dont know if this is the right place to put as post this question,but seen as they are hardware,ithought i might be right,forgot to mention it is the nightmare os of vista premium i am working off.

| Re: local disc icons not setup right i done a system restore mate,and it sorted it but would love to know how this can happen,if you could tell me,as i was scared to do what you suggested ,as i am only a beginner mate ,but i am off to look at it now ,thanks for your help mate i love this forum full of good guys like yourself ,helping a dummy like me.

p.s i did not make any changes to the system e.g install new programms etc |

| Re: local disc icons not setup right There is no way anyone can explain this. We do not know what changes you made to your system, what software you have running at any given moment, what hardware you have among various other things.
There is no way anyone can sit here and try to explain why your icon cache just went away. It is something that can not be explained without knowing EVERY detail of your PC at every given second. Even then it is close to impossible to explain.

| Re: local disc icons not setup right i cannot find this IconCache.db anywhere, i am following the instructions from this site Icon Cache - Rebuild - Vista Forums
but i cannot see this IconCache.db i cannot do a system restore this time as i have lost them all for some reason **** that sucks.

1. Open Folder Options to select (dot) Show hidden files and folders.

| Re: local disc icons not setup right Did you try a Icon Replacement program like IconPacker? If so that is the problem. It replaced the default Icons with others which are now lost.
