I would say that NIS does a good job but it isnt foolproof. It does lack in some areas. I have found my OneCare has better Definations for viruses than Norton and OneCare is just a Beta right now.

Microsoft is shipping their anti spyware and antivirus together in a product falled MS OneCare. Are you actually saying the Antivirus portion of OneCare has been released in a Beta! Please provide links.

Okay sorry for the delayed reply here i didnt see this before. Time to get my eyes checked. But as for your answer Tyler OneCare doesnt have an anti spyware just the antivirus and a updated firewall. I have actually had OneCare pop up and ask if i wanted to allow or forbid applications from accessing the Web. It took over for the Windows Firewall. Here is the screen you see when you load it up...
.

As you see it has a tune up and back up feature. It has been announced by OneCare that they are updating the application to allow for backups to go to a External Hard Drive. Currently it can only burn to DVD. As you see i am asked to backup but i dont have to since i have a Ghost image. It isnt a bad application.

Sorry but this is about to make the post long but you should all see this...
Dear Windows OneCare™ Beta Testers,

First, a huge thanks to everyone for your great feedback and ideas! We've been hard at work fixing bugs and implementing new features based on the valuable input you have provided. This newsletter contains information on upcoming product improvements, the first in a series of top tester awards, and how you can help expand our beta program.

Invite your friends and family to signup for the Windows OneCare Beta!
Do you know others who are interested in trying out Windows OneCare? We are now at the point where we would like to expand our group of beta testers. We encourage you to extend Windows OneCare beta invitations to your friends and family. Just have them go to http://beta.microsoft.com/, sign in with their Microsoft® Passport Network credentials, type in OneCare (case sensitive) when prompted for the guest ID, and follow the instructions from there.

You can install Windows OneCare on multiple computers!
Did you know that approved beta participants can install Windows OneCare on more than one PC? In fact, we encourage you to install the beta on every PC in your house to ensure that we are finding and fixing as many of your issues as possible. To install Windows OneCare Beta on additional machines:

1. Go to http://beta.windowsonecare.com/purchase/default.aspx.
2. Sign in with your Passport Network credentials.
3. Enter your unique Product Key. (If you have previously entered your unique Product Key, you will not be prompted to enter it again.)
4. Install Windows OneCare and enjoy.

Top feature requests coming in the next few months
Backup to an external hard drive!
That's right, you spoke and we listened. Many folks have asked for the ability to back up to an external hard drive because they have either large datasets or don't have a CD/DVD burner. Our team has been hard at work to implement this new feature and it's looking great so far!

Integration with Microsoft Update
We've added a much requested integration feature that notifies you when MU auto/auto is not set and gives you a 1-click action item to get you green.

Detection of conflicting applications
Did you know that, like other security programs, Windows OneCare does not support operation on a PC that has other antivirus or firewall programs installed? Many folks have been confused by this, so we've added a feature at setup that informs you of the specific programs that need to be uninstalled prior to Windows OneCare installation. This new detection feature provides easy-to-follow instructions on how to remove the conflicting software.

Shell extension for antivirus scan
Soon, you will be able to right-click files or folders and scan them in place.

Top tester awards
While thousands of you have been providing extremely valuable feedback, we wanted to specifically recognize the following ten testers for their immeasurable contributions reporting bugs and participating in newsgroups:

* Frank Schroeder
* Michael Cowell
* Derek Martin
* Sean Barnett
* Ben Bodenmiller
* William A. Rolison
* Don Dewiel
* James Rapisarda
* Carla Fullerton
* Patrick ****ey

These testers will receive a gift in the mail as a token of our appreciation. Our deepest thanks to all for your hard work and dedication to helping us make this a great product. We will send out more tester awards throughout the beta period, so stay tuned!

Chats
The transcript from our last chat is posted on http://beta.microsoft.com/. E-mail notices for the upcoming chat will be sent out soon. We hope to see you there!

Surveys
Many of you have completed the Backup and Restore Testing Scenarios and have provided us with valuable feedback in these surveys—such as the desire to back up to an external hard drive. If you haven’t been to http://beta.microsoft.com/ recently, please check in; there are surveys that need your input!

Feedback
We treasure your feedback—in fact, it's the main reason we do the beta! If you have any suggestions, feature requests, or bug reports, please let us know! We've put several options in place for you to send us your thoughts.

Submit a Bug form on http://beta.microsoft.com/
The Submit a Bug form is the best way to send us bug reports and feature requests. Please remember to attach your support logs with any bug reports; the support logs are the best way for us to diagnose any issue you encounter. To access the bug form:

1. Go to http://beta.microsoft.com/.
2. Sign in with your Passport Network credentials.
3. Click the Windows OneCare Live group.
4. Point to Submit a Bug on the top menu bar, then click Windows OneCare Live.
5. Fill out the form, and make sure to attach your support log. (Instructions for generating and attaching a support log are on the site.)

Newsgroups on http://beta.microsoft.com/
We have a vibrant community of newsgroup users who are passionate about Windows OneCare. Check out the newsgroups; they're a great place to go for community support and discussion. To access the newsgroups:

1. Go to http://beta.microsoft.com/.
2. Sign in with your Passport Network credentials.
3. Click the Windows OneCare Live group.
4. Click Newsgroups in the left menu for sign-up and configuration instructions.

Windows OneCare Help Center
We are here to help! You can find answers to most of your questions about Windows OneCare features or troubleshooting steps for any problems in the Windows OneCare Help Center. To access Help Center content:

1. Go to http://beta.windowsonecare.com/support/default.aspx.
