Default Linksys driver issue

I'm trying to install a Linksys wireless card on a computer (wmp54g). I start the setup, select all the settings, and then it starts installing. It freezes at 50%, and freezes the whole computer.

There are no drivers before it, it's a new setup of XP. The LAN driver works fine. Could the two be in conflict?

How long does the system freeze for before you shut it down? Did you give it time to install? Do you have all the XP updates? Do you have the correct driver?

I left it for two hours earlier, stayed frozen. Yes, and I'm looking for updates right now. Yes.

Somewhere said to not have the card in when I install the driver, so I'm gonna try that.

Edit: I think this is resolved. I installed it without the card, and it didn't freeze. It's installing updates, but here's hoping it works... *crosses fingers*

Let us know what happens. I have the same wireless card that I've used on xp and Vista, and both times I've gotten the card to work very well.

..... I searched for it multiple times and never saw that, .

Well the install went without a hitch, but I couldn't tap into my wireless network at home. I'll try it with the CD. I'm a bit lost with network issues.
