Question Laptop won't load anything

Hiya every1,

I am pretty new at this but will give it a go.

I have recently been having problems with my laptop as when i load it and log in it doesn't load anything up. I am able to bring up the task manager but if I try to open anything using this then it says it does not have the supported software to accompany this or something like that. I have looked on other forums and it seems like it is something to do with explorer not loading but i am not sure ? Also I haven't got the XP installing disk as the laptop is from my college.

Can any1 help?

Thanks for your help

Can you get into Safe Mode?

Hit F8 after the BIOS screen but before Windows loads. If you can get into Safe Mode create a new Profile. Then import the files from your old one.

It sounds as if the profile is corrupted.

In the task manger click File>Run and type in explorer.exe and see if that allows you to get the explorer up to do something.

When i type explorer.exe in it just comes up with "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel" but i don't know why it is telling me to do that when i can't access control panel either?

Thanks again

Wow you are going to have to get your hands on a XP disc that matches your OS. Either Home or Pro. The laptop is in serious trouble.

IF you get a disc there are things that we can do. But get a disc first.

Not a problem. After you get the disc you can try a repair install first.
