my roomate has a Sony Vaio Model PCG-7G2L...Notebook.

I formatted then loaded XP. I did not use the Vaio software to do this repair...am i screwed??

Now in device manager it shows the
ethernet controller and i try to update the driver, but it the Windows XP cd will not load the driver...i am trying to connect through a CAT 5 cable and not even her Wi-Fi...

Under network connections the only thing listed is a 1394 adapter...what gives? how can i get online? is this going to be possible?

You'll need to download the network driver for the computer and install that.

Using a seperate machine and a jump drive obviously.

Like Veedub said, you'll need to install the network drivers (as well as the ther drivers for the system). They should all be available for download on Sony's site if you search for the model.

i tried finding the model number on sonys website and could not find it...

how else can i do this???

You are going to have to search manually. By find a laptop that looks like it or find it via Google.

Read some results on that page to find out the exact information needed to search the Sony Site.

Of course you can't connect since you don't have the Network drivers installed.
