JPG troubles

Ok, I'm having trouble opening a jpg in any application on one machine, but not on another. When trying to open it in paint, Picture Manger, whatever on one machine it only shows a little red "x". On a different machine, it opens just fine.

Both machines are Windows XP sp2.

Have you got all updates? Have you updated the GFX card have you got all the same applications on both PC's?
