Default Joining a Server 2003 domain with Vista

I set up a Domain Controller with Active Directory. It works I have a Windows XP computer in the domain and it works perfectly. I have too issues

I cannot join the domain on my main computer which is running Windows Vista Business Class 64 bit Edition. My server is running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise 32 Bit Edition. I get the following error when trying to join the domain, "the format of the specified network name is invalid". Have they magically changed how you join domains in Vista?

My Domain Controller works just fine on a local network sense and it performs all it's DC functions but I have it set to a static IP address and my ISP wants dynamic. I cannot connect to the internet to get updates for the server but I have a fully functioning domain on the other hand. Can I have the best of both worlds?
