How do I open an .avi file with this? JAS3 is suppose to support avi but I keep getting the message "Cannot read video data. No suitable decompressor is available".

I've got xvid installed.

you have downloaded divx codec? which is required to play avi files.

yes, xvid is practically all that is needed for these files. It plays fine on WMP and winamp.
