Exclamation Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service

I get this error on both mine and my wife's systems.

Happens during a simple COPY/PASTE routine. We get this error code copying
anything into WORD.

Both systems have more than enough "resources" available.

Both systems run XP Pro and have all the latest updates.

My system has 1.5GB RAM hers has 1GB Ram. There's more than enough HDD
space available as well.

What's going on with the Copy/Paste routine ?

TIA,

ERIC

how large is the copy target?
how many other apps if any do you have running concurrently?

seems to be a memory leak in something

I got it once using a bartpe cd to copy files. I just copied over the stuff that was left from the first copy

try clearing your clipboard in word too.

Yes.

I believe it has something to do with the Pagefile or the size of the Pagefile.

I recently added RAM to both machines and did not increase the size of the Pagefile.

I just increased the Pagefile earlier this AM. I'm going to try and replicate the problem and see if the Error code pops up again.

The pagefile shouldnt matter much. I have mine at the minimum for my XP install as i dont really need a pagefile. I have more than enough RAM to perform all tasks in XP. Yet i can still copy an dpaste 200GB of stuff and not get this error.
