Default installing windows xp

i recently built a new computer and i want to install windows xp. when i looked online to buy windows xp it said "windows xp home edition upgrade with sp2". does the "upgrade" mean that i have to already have a version of windows on my hard drive? or can i just install windows xp by itself?

An up-grade as stated in the name is an up-grade from an older version, so you must have the older version in order to up-grade.

To do a clean install which is best you would buy the full OS in one and install for less problems.

Look at this site:

Info

You can also hassard a guess from the price of the product as to what it includes.
