I want to reinstall vista, if i choose the option 'install clean copy vista' will it delete the files i have in my harddrive? like my videos ect.

thx

the thing is i had a virus that messed things up, like block task manager, editing registry, i cant seem to shrink or extend partition to backup.







really dont know what to do

Yes it will delete all of your files if you reinstall Vista.

The only way it will not is if your files are on a separate drive or partition. More than likely they are in your My Documents folder - which would get deleted if / when you reinstall the OS.

What I would suggest is booting up your system in safe mode and backup that way. Either by using Vista's backup (which sux) or just copying what files you want to a USB device / DVD (not sure which will be available in safe mode).

The only other option would be to get a Linux Live CD (or create one) and boot up Linux straight off the CD (you don't have to install a thing, everything loads off the live CD). Then backup what files you need.

USB will be available in Safe Mode, Lex. Even was in XP.
