Default Install Vista32 on 4gb?

Okay I understand there are issues with 32 Bit version of Vista running with 4GB of ram but will 32 Bit Vista Ultimate install at all with 4gb ram? I am waiting for my 64bit version in the mail from HP, however i still need to use the laptop for school so I figured i'd install an os temporarily, and all i had lying around was Ultimate 32 Bit. So is it even possible? Or am I wasting my time?

The issues so far have been that after installing, it just stops. It does not freez the PC but it simply quits installing, even after a reboot I get the "failed to shut down correctly" screen with options to boot in safe mode, normal, etc.

Attempting to restart the PC and boot from the HDD it does the same thing, jst sits and waits...

Again i'm using a brand new HP Pavilion 6700 Entertainment Notebook PC Originally with Vista Home Premium 64 Bit, Intel Core 2 2.0 GHz, 4gb RAM, 250gb hdd.

Thanks for your help guys! I'm a newb... =)

Vista has been known to not install properly with 4GB installed. Remove some of the RAM then try.
