|  i need a free dvd decoder for server 08
well server 08 doesnt come with the dvd decoder that vista home premeum has. and i cannot whatch my movies. im trying to try to whatch some movies but its not working. i tried google but havent found anything for server 08 or anything that is free.

Are you sure you dont just need the codecs? Or to apply the Media aspect in the server management screen?

Did you install the Audio and Video part from the Server Management screen? Did you download and install KLite?

i instaled the audio i dont know what you mean by video is there a walk tho to get this working properly?

Yeah there are like 15 or more of them all across Google. I know i have personally linked to several of them.
The Video thing i am talking about is for the optimal Video Experience. I dont remember the exact title. But it is roughly that in the Server Management screen.

If you download VLC player it comes with a DVD decoder, well actually I am not sure about the new version but the old one did. A DVD decoder will not come with a codec pack because well it isn't a codec it is a decoder. The Graphic card chip makers used to provide free DVD decoders with the driver cd's but they stopped this practice and now charge money for them. NVIDIA DVD Decoder (1.00.58) . Another software package that comes with a free decoder that used to work is Cyberlinks power DVD. DVD Player Software - CyberLink PowerDVD ? #1 Playback Software for DVDs and Blu-ray Discs

|MG| Vista Codec Package 5.05 Final
I used that with Windows Media Player on my wife's laptop to enable DVD decoding. It works with NT/200x/XP/Vista... maybe it will work with Server 08. | |
