| Newb Techie | I need to Format my C: drive on my Pc so I can reinstall Windows and a much needed software for work application. But windows will not let me do it, I tried shutting everythign down that I possibly can and still to no unviel, also tried doing it from the DOS promt and again nothing so I am stuck. If anyone out there know what I have to do please let me in on it. It's Windows 2000 Pro, and I have two 80 Gig hard drives. one for back up and one for everything else. Any help would be greatly appreciated |

| you cannot format the drive Windows is using from within Windows. pop in your windows 2000 CD on boot, and start the install. before it actually does install, it will ask you whether to format the drive. format to NTFS. also make sure you have all that you want saved on another media. and make sure you have all the drivers you need. |
