So a friend lent me his HP Mini 110 to try and fix it, and so far I've fixed most of it (there was a lot wrong with it), except the fact that the computer locks up at the HP logo when it first boots. It gives me two on screen options:
< F9 > = Change Boot Device Order
< F10 > = BIOS Setup Options
If I push either of those, it takes roughly five to seven minutes to display the information, which shouldn't be happening. When I can finally get into the BIOS, all I have to do is "Exit saving changes", then it reboots, then loads past the HP Logo screen in like half a second, and proceeds to load into Windows like normal.
When I restart, it will do the same thing: It will load past the boot screen within half a second and proceed into windows.
When I completely shut if off, however, it will go back to step one, where it takes five to seven minutes to go into the BIOS where I save and exit, restart, then load Windows.
I updated the BIOS today, but the problem is still happening (it was happening before updating the BIOS)
It also seems like the computer isn't recognizing the hard drive during the long boots. I go into the BIOS and run the Hard Drive checker and it fails the test.
So, I'm at a loss as to what might be causing this issue. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
