Question How to install HDD image onto new HDD

To save time and not have to re-install XP, updates and numerous software, I want to create an image of an HDD, can you suggest best free software to do this?
After creating an image and removing original HDD, how do I go about installing this on a new HDD in same PC, does the image software cater for this?
If it helps I have a slave HDD with plenty of space.

I use the version of ghost that's on digiwiz's mini PE, it really works well. You'll need a seperate HD to save the ghost image on.

Yeah, but how do I go about installing this on a new unused HDD in same PC, after removal of original bootable HDD?

Boot from the PE CD and restore it to the new drive.
